MATTHEW FRIEDMAN

I only received this shocking news today and am deeply saddened by it. Matt was my housemate at UVA Law and one of my best friends there. I have always regretted that we did not remain in closer touch and I had no idea he had been ill. I loved Matt for his wit, cleverness, and style. He inspired me in ways I'm not sure he ever knew and I am feeling a tremendous sense of loss to know he is gone. He has left us too soon.

Matt, I remember meeting you and Yvonne when Rory was just a hope and a prayer. I was so happy when I learned that your family had moved upstate and made that dream come true as well. I am so saddened by your early death and send much love to Yvonne and Rory.
