Matthew Blair Gaines

Matt has always held a special place in my heart. I´m so happy to have seen him and spent time with him at the reunion. He was a wonderful human with the kindest heart and an angelic voice. Just knowing he was in this world made it a better place. I rejoice in knowing I´ll see him again. Love you Matt.

I have so many memories of Matt from our China days together and beyond--singing together, going on a spring trip together, meeting up in Birmingham, even working together at the World Games in 2021 (something he pulled me into). I remember rooming together in the most "rustic" hotel we ever stayed in, in remote Guizhou province. Matt got our choir program really going at TIS. My deepest condolences. I knew Matt from Homewood High School. I sang with him in the Auburn Concert Choir and was also in Singers with him (I was an instrumentalist in that group). He was so kind and so talented and he truly had a positive influence on others. I am grateful to have been his friend.
