Not sure what to say?

Matty was my after school tutor for several years when I was in high school. He had such a big heart for all the kids he tutored including myself. Matty was a brilliant educator could always make the most mundane school material engaging and fun. We laughed alot during tutoring sessions. When you were close to completing a math equation he would say " you are on the brink of greatness". Probably wouldn't haven't gotten my high school diploma without him, I am certain they are many others like...

I meant Matty. I was auto voice texting, so sorry. One of the most amazing people I´ve ever met in my life. I am better for knowing him. He loved his family more than anything in the world and made everybody else feel great in his presence. He loved the meteor showers and every time I look up at the sky, I will think of you Matty God bless you.

Maddie was one of the best human beings I´ve ever met full of life, full of hope, and always inspiring others, and no one who has met him will ever forget him, and everyone who knew him is better for it Maddie I wish you a beautiful heaven with God and the angels and thank you for all you´ve given to all of us during your life May you rest in peace and heaven God bless you and your family Susanna

Some of my earliest childhood memories are of Matty and the rest of the guys showing up at my parent's apartment on Christmas Eve - very late and after a few drinks. :) Somewhere there are great pics of that - including one of me and a crazy-looking stuffed monkey Matty gave me! From Plainsmen games to Christmas parties and summer visits in Saratoga, Matty was a very special part of my life forever. As much as I'll miss his warm, loving smile, I know my parents, especially my Dad, will...

I am so sorry to see this. Matty was a great guy and a solid friend. I used to love seeing Matty at our occasional gatherings with all of our NDHS, Msgr. Farrell, Wagner College buddies. I'm so sorry to have not seen this sooner. God bless you Matty and all of your loved ones. You were a true Salt of The Earth man. You'll be missed. With love, Steve Molinelli

I met Matty on the SI Ferry--commuting from Stuyvesant HS--in 1966... he was wearing his Plainsmen jacket. I was playing for ther Great Kills Vikings in a Brooklyn league that year but i KNEW who the Plainsmen were--even tho i wasnt from the south shore!! My Vikings teammates knew them all! I cant say i talked w him a lot--or often--but i knew who he was...and from my vikings teammates i learned of his reputation as a nasty linebacker for the Plainsmen. His obit says so much more about...
