Not sure what to say?

DEAR FAMILY OF COACH HILL,
I HAD NO IDEA THAT THE "COACH" WAS GONE. I WAS WATCHING THE SUMMER HILL DOCUMENTARY AND WANT TO RESPOND WHEN I RAN ACROSS HIS OBITURARY. I SURE AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS AND THE COMMUNITIES AS WELL. HE WAS A FINE MAN AND THE KIDS ALL LOVED HIM AND SEEMED TO RESPECT HIM TO. I WORKED AS A CASE WORKER YEARS AGAO BEFORE I WAS STUCK BY EARLY ONSET PARKINSONS DISEASE.
I WAS WANTING TO RESPOND TO THE DOCUMENTARY ABOUT HOW SORRY I WAS THAT PEOPLE COULD BE SO CRUEL...

So many memories flood my mind, but I remember his calming smile and his eagerness to truly listen,to help. We were all blessed to have known this man.

FROM MIKEIJA

Coach Hill was always someone to look up to. He was a commanding, quiet, and gentle spirit. He was an advocate for young people. He had a great smile and knew how to laugh. He was an encourager. He was the kind of person that made me a better person for knowing him. My heart goes out to his family ( Mrs. Hill was my 2nd grade teacher:)) My prayers are with you.

Coach Hill was an inspiration to all people. He was a good Christian man that loved all people. He was a role model, jovial man full of life. He taught as he lived. He never judged just helped. He had always been special to our family and we feel honored to call him friend. God surely gave us a gift when he loaned Coach to us, and our lives are better since we have known him. May God bless you his family and keep you strong. We love you all. Pauline( substitute teacher) Woodward and...

Coach Hill was a great man. As a student at Cartersville I remember him as a caring gentle giant who commanded everyone’s attention without saying a word, however when he spoke everyone listened. He was very caring person especially for young people. He touched many students' lives. He will be greatly missed by our community for his good work.

Coach Hill touched so many lives for so many years including my own some 30+ years ago. I am saddened to hear of his passing, but "let the games begin" in heaven! I may have learned education at UGA, but I learned to teach from Matthew & Nick. I believe Coach Hill's passion for children, his larger than life personality and his loving discipline changed generations of Cartersville youth. He will be missed by many and my sympathy goes out to his family.

Cousin June & Joy.

We were so saddened to hear of Cousin Douglas' passing. The photo presented of him is the epitome of him and the man I knew and loved; always smiling with such a warm chuckle when he got really tickled and giving those wonderful "giant" hugs. He loved you and Joy so much and it was quite evident and such an inspiration to me down through the years.

May the wonderful memories shared with him be your guide and make you smile in the days ahead. You...

Mrs. Hill and Joy, my deepest condolences to your family. "Coach Hill" was a standard of community leadership and commitment, he helped lift many to their fullest potential; not just those that asked but also those he saw an ability in. Blessings and comfort to you during this most trying of times.
