Matthew Dale Kelems, 38, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Matthew was born in Michigan, and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a machinist for Colonna's Shipyard, Inc. in Norfolk, VA.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer N. Kelems; a daughter, Emily; parents, Georgie and Dale McWhorter; 2 sisters, Heather Kelems, Katie McWhorter; in-laws, Myrna and Mike Riley; a brother-in-law, Tony Riley; a niece and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2017, starting at 6:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at B.W. Foster Funeral Home, Chapel, 1926 High St. Portsmouth, VA. Memorial donations may be made a charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
I am praying for peace and comfort for Matt's family and friends during this very difficult time. I wish I could be there today. Matt was a good friend during my formative years and kind of taught me a lot about being cool. He was an invaluable friend and influence. I am so glad I got to have him be a part of my life.

Matt was a one-of-a-kind friend, and I spent an inconceivable amount of time with him during my teenage years. I'll never forget him, and I want to send my utmost condolences to all family and friends.
