I was a substitute Spanish teacher at Byron Bergen, and I remember Matt well. He was a wonderful individual.

Matt was a great person to be around. I am his neighbor to this day. I remember always seeing him in the halls. He was a great person. I remember hearing him and his brother Sean on their four wheelers. I was sad for seeing him go and I saw the look on Matthew's friends and family members as they picked up his coffin and walked to the car. I will keep all surviving of Matt in my thoughts and prayers. He was a terrific kid to see around the halls, fun guy to talk to. This a terrible thing to have to go through, but it helps the rest of us come to realize how dear our lives really are and how much we must cherish them. I wish all the best in the next coming months, years, and so forth to his family. It's another heartbreak for the people connected to Byron-Bergen students.
