Matt's duaghter, brother, and sister I am sorry for your loss. I have been trying to connect with Matt for some time. I found his Facebook page and sent a message. Today I searched his name and found this page. I am sure Matt is in heaven now. He will always be a uniquely good man.

Although we lost touch a few years after high school, I still remember fondly Matt's kindness and smile. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

Matt "Matty boy" McGlade was one of a kind. One of the sweetest, dearest souls I have ever met. We grew up on Chesterfield Avenue in McLean, VA. Matt brought humor and laughter whenever he came to our house. Maria, Marc, and Michele, and families, my deepest sympathy on your loss of Matt. He will be terribly missed.

I met Matt my freshman year at MHS and he kept me laughing for the next 10 years as we matriculated (I think he would've like me using that) through our high school and college odyssey's (that too) and ventured on to the “real world”. I'd lost touch with him over the last 20 years but I still remember the last time I ran in to him; those bright eyes and that big warm smile that said “Hey brother, great to see you!” He was the funniest, kindest, warmest soul I've ever known and even though I hadn't seen him in years I will miss him greatly. Marc, my family's thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. God bless and keep you all.
Rest in peace Matt.

Matt was capable of being in two places at the same time, a remarkable feat. I can't recall when we first met because he always seemed to be around. He was high spirited and humorous, but never at another's expense, he was above that. He was bright, yet unpretentious and true. Matt was perhaps the most unforgettable person I've run across and he leaves a legacy of good will, uncommon friendship, and a grin which could break the thickest ice. He truly had the right stuff. God Bless Matt McGlade, a man of the people. Chris Bova, formerly of the mean streets of McLean.

Having known Matt in high school, we only recently reconnected in spite of the miles. Some of our chats were as if none of the 40 years had passed. My thoughts and prayers are back home in Virginia tonight and tomorrow as his family and friends celebrate his life. May you all find comfort within one another; may God help to bring you peace.

I sat next to Matt in 8th grade history class. This was very fortunate because Matt was already hilarious, which gave me and everyone around Matt a lift. One day the teacher got to the LBJ administration. Matt had obviously been practicing. In a spectacularly accurate LBJ impersonation, Matt said -- a little too loudly -- "I know that at this time of national travail, the American people are a little morose...." I stopped listening at morose, not knowing what it meant but doubled over by the McGlade mimicry. The teacher had overheard: "Morose?" she asked, starting to giggle. At which point the entire class burst out laughing.
I don't know if LBJ ever even used the word, but since that day I can't hear it without thinking of the Johnson administration -- and laughing.
Not too many personalities leave that kind of mark. We'll all miss Matt.

I remember Matt as such a fun loving happy guy. He was a poker buddy of my husband (now deceased) - Frank Lyons, and Ross Thornley and Paul Garcia. They had such great times together. This was at least 25 years ago. Now all of our kids are in their 20's.

Matt had so many levels to his personality. At the core was his love of family, his faith and fellow man. He would always make you laugh and leave you with a thought to ponder. I know I am a better person for having a friend in Matt and I know his spirit will live on. God Bless Matt and his family.

A man who loved "The Big Lewbowski" and "Led Zepelin" equally. He appreciated a good story, a turn of a phrase and could carry his own in "discussions" regarding subjects that most would avoid. I'll miss our chats on Faith and Politics, Business and World events in general. I'll never hear (especially) Joe Cocker, Jimi or The Stones (and many others) again without seeing Matt's grin, as he stands holding a Coors Light, wearing his (beautiful) Camel's Hair overcoat, alerting me to the great guitar lick coming momentarily...Play on McGlade.

Our family would joke at holiday time... about what time Matt would show up.( for dinner, of course)!...Our memories go way back, as I had known Matt since he was 4 years old...He & my brother Fergie ( Jim) played baseball in the front yard at Chesterfield Ave. To this day they still argued about Jim not touching the dogwood tree ( which was first base.) He will be truely missed... Karen Ferguson Thiebaut

He was a guy who hundreds of people would have called him their best friend. He was loyal to his family, friends and church. His humor and good spirit will endure within me.

I am certain that I can see an extra star in the sky tonight and I am certain it will light the way for Matt's daughter, his sister, his brother and all of his dear friends who are feeling a bit lost right now. I am also certain that Matt had St. Peter laughing before the gate even opened. Joan Erle (one of the 'beach friends')

Going to miss him immensely. He would light up a room with his mere presence, and did so on numerous occasions. A truly great guy who always left me laughing---his passing is a colossal loss. Just grateful I had the chance to know him, as those who didn't missed out. He was one of a kind.
