I knew Matt when he wrestled in College. Always a gentleman and first class individual/competitor.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Matt's passing. Matty was an incredible person when I knew him and, from what I've read, continued to be! So sorry that we lost touch with one another through the years.... Matt was truly like a brother. RIP Matt

To Angela and family,
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Matt as a teacher and colleague. Our deepest sympathy to the family during this time.

Prayers go out to Matt's family and friends. I can't imagine how devistated they must be. It broke my heart and I knew him while he and my daughter,Heather attended SUNY Brockport and we attended some of his wrestling matches. He was someone who was very special and once you knew him you remembered him forever!

Mrs. Schmookler, I was so sad to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at what has to be the most difficult time for a parent. I didn't know Matt, but from reading his article and the comments here, he sounds like a truly wonderful, son, father, husband, teacher, and human being. Thoughts and prayers are with you during this extremely difficult time. We are friends of Lynsay and Dave's and I was so sad to hear of Matt's passing. I never knew him, but reading all of the messages from those who did has given me just a glimpse into who he was. I hope you all find comfort in each other and in remembering all of the good times you had with Matt.
