Not sure what to say?

I knew Matt as a fellow turtle-ologist and general out-in-the field naturalist and highly regarded his abilities and intensity of his interest. We shared a house with a number of other slightly crazy and (mostly) high-achieving students, where we engaged in all kinds of stimulating debate and discussion. I was amazed by Matt's ability to take on a full course of medical study, continue his interest and involvement in biology, and, yes, even learn to fly. I've got slides of my study area I...

To the Family of Matt Houseal,
I just learned of Matt's death and I am very saddened by the news. I knew Matt during Aviation Officer Candidate School, Class 35-82 ! Matt was always the "smart kid". While most of us struggled to meet the academic challenges and stress of the Marine Gunny breathing down our neck, Matt was always calm. God bless you all and rest assured that "Doc" Houseal is carrying on his good work.

I thought I signed this some time ago. I remember Matthew well from our days in the woods...our terrariums with frogs and fish...those crazy flying squirrels he used to have. Matt's mother introduced me to chocolate chip pancakes with powdered sugar...a tradition that has been passed down now in my family. I have reads tons and tons of the great things Matt did.....what a spirit he was. He remains in my memory daily.
