It's been many years and many tears.
We met in April 2000 at the Freshwind Conference in Toronto when he still had long hair and we dedicated ourselves to God. I will never forget us and the day we met. I have kept as many letters as I can through the moves and never forget even 1 conversation we had over the phone. Also his sister teasing him when she found out we were talking :) I remember the day he called me to say they cut his hair and that I should see it. He was pretty proud!

Their are no words to describe how much I think of you Matt. I wish things went different that day. I remember like it was yesterday. You and Evey will always be with me. The world is a lesser place because you are not in it.

I don't know if Matthew's parents ever look in here, but Matthew was my son Paul Squires' best friend over there. They went to Boot Camp and MOS training together, and were "blood brothers"...requiring a trip to the hospital for both. I met Matthew at Boot Camp, and even have a picture of him, Paul and Gus Suarez, who was another of their training buddies. Matthew replaced my son in the position he was serving in when Paul was transferred to another part of the Unit. I have always felt that...
