Lewis E. Wint and Son Funeral Home - Clarkston Obituary

PRIEBE, Matthew “Matt” of Galesburg; born December 27, 1959 in Ohio; passed away on November 15, 2021; age 61. Husband of Deeann; father of Jennifer Priebe; brother of William B. Priebe; preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Jeannine (Butler) Priebe.

Matt was an avid fly fisherman who enjoyed fishing for trout in Michigan and out west. In the winter he could be found skiing early weekend mornings at Timber Ridge.

He also shared the love of horses with Jenny, never missing a horse show that she was competing in, always there to help with any chore.

Matt is also known as dad to Brooklyn & Uno, our long haired dachshunds and grandpa to Charlie & Duchess, Jenny’s long haired dachshunds.

In his spare time his hobby was restoring old fly-fishing rods and nets.

He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering.

Matt was a Senior Quality Engineer for 29 years with Denso Manufacturing Inc of Battle Creek, Michigan.

A Celebration of Life for Matt will be held in the Spring of 2022. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Michigan Trout Unlimited. Please leave a memory or condolence on the online guestbook at www.wintfuneralhome.com

Not sure what to say?

Matt was my next door neighbor growing up in Plymouth Michigan, I remember the day his family moved in, I walked over and introduced myself, he stood about a foot taller than me and I asked him "are you a nice guy?" he laughed and said yes. Matt was a gentle giant growing up in our town, as kids he had his Cobra Mustang and we would race each other (I had mine as well). He was always kind hearted and a dear friend. I had the opportunity to speak with him about a year ago after reconnecting....

I worked with Matt for many years at DENSO and always enjoyed running into him in the hallways. He always was positive and a breath of fresh air and seemed to just lift your spirits even if it was in just passing. Matt had a gentle character that I appreciated in the sometimes not friendly environment of work. I heard about Matt passing today from a friend and am sorry I missed the service. Matt, you will be missed and I am sorry to hear the news. My thoughts are with the family...

Matt was the nicest person you could ever have as a friend. He will be missed by many. Always had a smile and a kind word.

So sorry to hear about Matt's passing.

Deeann and Jenny, so sorry for your loss. Holding you in prayer as you move forward.

Sending condolences to Matt’s family and dear friends.
Matt always had a smile and kind greeting for those of us fortunate to work with him. His kindness will surely be missed.

Deeann and Jen, We are so sorry for your loss. Matt was Belinda's first friend and she was lucky enough to spend time with the Priebe's many summers while she was growing up. Aunt Judy loved to hear from Matt when he would call to check on how she was doing and she thoroughly enjoyed hearing all about Jen and what she was doing with the horses. We are so happy that we were able to get together at our Cousin's reunion and we will keep his seat by the fire when we all meet again....

We are so sorry to hear the news about Matt. We have fond memories of him & your family during our days at St. A. We are keeping you in our thoughts during this most difficult time.

Deeann,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Your husband sounds like he was a wonderful man.
You have my deepest sympathies.
