From the day your family moved from Las Vegas we have missed you. We always thought, one day there would be a knock at the door and Matt would be standing there with a big Matt grin; just stopping by for a visit. It saddens me to realize that visit will have to wait 'til heaven. Matt was like a little/big brother to Cassi. Mr and Mrs Proctor and family, I was so very hurt to hear of Matt's passing. You have no idea what Matt meant to me. He was the first real friend I made in Knoxville and remains one of the most amazingly sweet people I have ever been privileged to know. You have a truly amazing family and it breaks my heart to know how you are hurting. Please know you all are in my prayers. With love.

I taught Matt in English classes at Pellissippi State, and long after he was out of my classes, he visited with me in my office. He was a gentle person who shared some of his story and spirit with me. I am deeply sorry about his early death but will always remember his energy and sweetness.
