Matthew Anthony Resendez, 30, of Burns Flat, Oklahoma was born on March 13, 1984 in Galveston, Texas. He is the son of Alfonso Resendez, Jr. and Leona Leann Jackson. Matthew passed away on July 21, 2014 at his residence in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Matthew met and then married his best friend and sweetheart, Cara Denae Rhoades on December 12, 2012 in Guymon, Oklahoma. He enjoyed driving any type of car with four wheels and a spiced up engine. He collected knives, drawing, and getting inked. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Elk City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Matthew is survived by his wife, Cara Resendez of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; step-father Dennis Lamar of Mt. View, Oklahoma; mother, Leona Leann Jackson of Canute, Oklahoma; step-grandmother, Johanna Lamar of Canute, Oklahoma; three sons, Joseph Reams-Resendez, Eric Reams-Resendez of Sealy, Texas, and Derek Resendez of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; two daughters, Jona Rodriguez-Resendez and Desiray Rodriguez-Resendez both of Erick, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Alyssa Bishop and Alexis Bishop both of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; one brother, Alfonso Resendez III of Connecticut; one step-brother, Jonathan Lamar of Mt. View, Oklahoma; and one step sister, Sarah Lamar of Mt. View, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his brother, maternal grandparents and one maternal aunt.
