Not sure what to say?

Matt, you were the brother I never had. It was a pleasure serving with you, we shared tons of laughs and I have the videos to prove it. You were a great friend to many and a true professional. You stayed on me and as a result my VA claim was increased significantly. I know many other veterans benefited from your professionalism. You touched many lives and will be greatly missed by so many. Every time I pass an American or Irish flag, I will stand tall and render a salute in your honor. I love...

Ellen, I´m so sorry to hear about Matt´s passing. We were away in Vegas visiting Michael or we would have come to the services. Matt was an amazing man and so funny. We have a lot of wonderful memories with home from our Liverpool Fusion years. Our hearts go out to you and the kids in this difficult time.

Something in my heart today got me thinking about Matt. I served with him over 30 years ago in ND; and lost touch over the years. Although we hadn´t spoke much over the last several decades, he was always in my thoughts. He helped shape my time in the AF - we would fish, talk, drink, work, play hockey, argue, hug. Just like brothers. Rest in peace my friend. - Scott Powers

My dear Eileen, Pat just let me know about Matt's passing - I am so sorry for your loss - please know you are in my thoughts & prayers .. Sincerely, Mary Anne

I served with Matt and am also from Syracuse. Miss the days of the Blarney Stone and Leisure Room. RIP Brother

Shocked to hear of Matt's passing and we were friends while we served in Germany and had lots of adventures together. He was a great guy and know he will be missed by his family. Fly high my brother and RIP!

I served in the USAF with Matt. He was definitely a man of honor and excellent role model. I am better for having known him.

He was such an amazing man and I am glad to know him. Him and my husband were two peas in a pod. His stories were always animated to say the least. We will miss him. The vanvalkenburg family

Ellen and family, Matt loved nothing more than to chat about you all, which was most every day. We shared our goings on, which pretty much always ended with a laugh, or a big smile. He was never short on words when it came to expressing how proud he was of you all. You brought him so much happiness, and being a husband and father was his absolute joy. I feel your heartache, as he brightened my life in so many ways, and his loss is so painful. We had a lot in common, our heritage, love of...
