SIMPSON, Matthew David - Of Davison, age 30, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Bruce Garner and Grandfather Norman Walworth officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Matthew's wife Diana and son Nicholas, age 1, through Swartz Funeral Home. Visitation 4-8PM Wednesday, 11AM-2PM and 4-8PM Thursday at the funeral home. Matthew was born in Flint, Michigan on April 16, 1978, the son of David and Cynthia (Walworth) Simpson and was a resident of the Flint area all his life. He married Diana Trevisi, the love of his life, on August 7, 2004. Matt was a 1996 graduate of Flint Central High School, where he played baseball. He attended Mott College and the University of Michigan. Matt enjoyed video games, was an avid collector and loved riding his four-wheeler, snowmobile and motorcycle. He was employed by GAB Telecom, where he had many friends, and attended Faith Tabernacle Church for many years. Matt placed his trust in Jesus Christ and was baptized in faith. Throughout his illness, his main concern was his testimony to his family and his love for his wife and son, taking comfort in knowing that God is a Father to the fatherless. He was also determined to leave for his friends and family a legacy of love for Jesus Christ. He prayed faithfully for his family and continued to trust God and give thanks, even in his final days. His family takes great comfort in the knowledge that while Matthew is absent in the body, he is present with the Lord.
