Matthew Richard Snyder, 53, of Burlington, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in Burlington. Born November 4, 1955, in Burlington, he was the son of Richard Clarence and Anne Marie Dunne Snyder. On May 22, 1976, he married Mary A. Williams in Burlington. Matt had worked in sales and most recently worked for Tom's Market and Meats and S.S. Midstream. He was a 1973 graduate of Burlington Notre Dame High School and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #568, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Concordia township trustee, Planning and Zoning Commission, and was active with Friends of the Library. He was also a volunteer for the West Burlington Police Department Reserves, a Boy Scout Leader with Troop 3, and a blood donor. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Mary; his mother, Anne Snyder of Burlington; one daughter, Beth (Brice) Swanson of Davenport; one son, Kevin Snyder of Burlington; one brother, John (Lisa) Snyder of West Burlington; two sisters, Teresa (David) Giese of Iowa City, and Joan (Brad) Chamberlin of Shorewood, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, one infant sister, and his grandparents. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 3:00 PM Rosary Service until 6:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Snyder will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 9, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father Patrick Hilgendorf as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Friends of the Library, and SS. John and Paul Catholic Church.
