Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Homes & Crematory - Hammond Obituary

Matthew James Storms, a resident of Hammond, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the young age of 49. He was born in Lutcher, Louisiana, one of six children born to Charles Graydon and Mary Theresa (Adams) Storms. Survived by his twin sisters: Vicki & Valarie and his brothers: Greg, Mark, and Ted. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Matt" to his nieces: Tori, Evelyn, Vee, Anna, Cat, Abby and Margaret and nephews: John, Josh, Ben, Eddie, Bobby, Sam, Andy, Derek, Brian (deceased but not forgotten), Michael, and Brett. Matthew had two brothers-in-law ("J" & Jack), and sisters-in-law Ann and Barbara. He had a host of many special friends who remembered Matt as kind, pleasant, caring, thoughtful, considerate, supportive, generous, fun, funny, outgoing, hardworking, and just an overall great person. Matthew graduated from St. Charles High School in LaPlace, LA. He attended the University of Southeastern Louisiana. He ran track in high school and in college. Not only did Matt like to run, but he enjoyed racquetball, and loved to travel. He was good at landscaping and caring for the elderly. Matthew will be sorely missed but no longer in pain as he is enjoying the company of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ in heaven. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11 AM at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, located at 100 West Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, LA. I moved across the street from Matthew when I was in first grade. We became friends then, in high school we played racquetball. He was always competitive and took his game seriously . That's why when I won-which wasn't often it made me very happy. I was honored to be Matthew's friend. He was my best man in my wedding, I think that says exactly how I felt about him. Even though we lost touch from time to time he was a good friend to me growing up and continued his life to become a really...
