Matthew Robert Von Steuben

Matthew Robert Von Steuben, 43, beloved son, brother and friend, died Sunday, July 10, 2022, after a prolonged battle with Mental Illness of Schizophrenia.  He will always be remembered for his courage in the struggle of living with mental illness. He passed away at home.

Born in Easton Hospital, October 21, 1978, he was the son of Robert and Renee’ (Reuss) Von Steuben. 

Matthew was of the Lutheran faith and was a 1997 graduate of Pen Argyl High School.   In his younger years, he was a Boy Scout, fisherman and even won a trophy.  He liked his cars and enjoyed driving.  He enjoyed learning about science, nature and hiking in the woods.  He also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and surf fishing at the beach.

In addition to his parents, Robert and Renee’, he is survived by a brother David, aunts and uncles, Carla Palank, Robert A. Reuss (Edna), Roland Reuss (Gayle), John Reuss, and James Reuss (Sharon), cousins, Joseph, Thomas, Jaimy, Kristen, Daniel, and Desiree’, and his two cats, Scotch and Oreo.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Nellie Von Steuben and Robert and Geraldine Reuss.

He loved us and was much loved and we will miss him.

There will be a visitation, Tuesday, July 19, 2022, beginning at 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl.  Interment will be in Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield Township.
