WALLACE, Matthew Matthew Collins Wallace, 19, of Mt. Pleaant, passed away on March 29, 2009. Matthew was born in Jackson, Mississippi, a son of Kimberly Ferneau Wallace and Mickey Paul Wallace on Monday, August 14, 1989. Matthew was raised in both Charleston and Jackson, with deep ties to and relationships in both cities. Matthew graduated from Wando High School in 2008 and attended Trident Technical College, where he expressed an interest in pre-law and psychology majors. Matthew was very much beloved by his mother, father and his extended family, and he will be especially remembered for his intelligence, loyalty and his generous practice of the art of friendship. Matthew's sensitivity of spirit was attuned to the needs of both people and animals, and he understood the wide range of poetry: from the stanzas of hip hop and haiku to the drumbeat rhythm of living a life in which he was greatly loved. "That best portion of a good man's life, His little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love." - William Wordsworth Matthew is survived by his mother, Kimberly F. Wallace and her husband, Tom Hentges, of Mt. Pleasant, his father, Mickey P. Wallace and his wife, Meg, of Jackson, MS; two brothers, Michael Ryan Wallace and Sean Ferneau Wallace; his grandmother, Annalo Wallace; his aunts, uncles and cousins, Patrick and Taylor, and a large circle of close friends. The relatives and friends of Matthew C. Wallace are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 2, 2009, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 67 Anson St. Charleston. Burial will be held privately. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Matthew's name to the Charleston Animal Society at 2455 Remount Road, Charleston, SC 29406 (843-747-4849). Tom, Kimberly and Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It's so tragic when a parent loses a loved one, but it's devastating to lose a child first. We always feel our Children should outlive us, but sometimes it's not meant to be. I wish I could have known your son. He sounds awesome. The obituary is just beautiful and will bring tears to your eyes. Hold onto to Psalm 86:6,7 "Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of supplications. In the day of my trouble I call...
