'That Was Fun, Wasn't It?'
When Matthew Blake Wallens had lunch at his favorite pizza place with his wife, Raina Wallens, it was his habit to turn to her when she was finished.

"He would say, 'That was fun, wasn't it?' " Mrs. Wallens recalled. "I would say, 'Yeah.' And he would say, 'That is what we do, we have fun.' "

That was the spirit Mr. Wallens, 31, created wherever he went, no matter what he did. So when he fell in the mud, it was the greatest mud in the world, said his father, Dr. Donald Wallens. "He found something to grab hold of in all life's experiences," Dr. Wallens said.

Known to all as Blake, Mr. Wallens was a senior vice president at Cantor Fitzgerald whose contagious enthusiasm made his clients look forward to his calls, knowing he could make a bad day good and a good day better.

"There are things in life you need," his father said. "You need to work and you need to play and you need to love. He did them all in an extremely satisfying way."

Not sure what to say?

Blake- You are missed by so many and you light spirit and joy brought happiness to everyone around you.

Blake, i last saw you the night before graduation. I believe we shared a Cow Brain. Fell out of touch with most of my Cornell friends over the years.

I was just telling my 10 year old daughter about you and I found my way here. I can remember studying with you for a political history class. You drank flat soda and we talked about how you liked Mahler.

Miss you. Way too soon.

Blake: I met you in 1986 when I was 9 years old on my first day at Raquette Lake Boys Camp. You were assigned to be my big brother. I never forgot how kind you were to me. I remember you would take me to the Canteen to get me ice cream and I thought you were the coolest guy in the world. I also remember how funny it was to learn that your dad and my aunt dated when they were kids at camp; small world. Thanks for being such a great "big brother"- I never forgot.

Hey Kid,
Just thinking about you. Wishing you were here.

Hey Blake,

Damn, I just miss your smile and your laugh. Looking at your picture just makes me think to pick up the phone, call you and have a quick laugh together. I miss you, buddy. I cannot believe it has been 13 years, but I think about you often and all of the great memories you blessed me with. Hopefully you are looking down and laughing at all of the silliness that we continue to be up to.

Hey my man. Thinking of you as I do frequently. Not sure if its some Wallens burden, but Jordan has done a great job keeping tabs on me and providing the Wallens "atta-boy's" that have been and continue to be a private treasure. I wish you could just walk into my room right now..." oh no...painting? What have you gotten yourself into now? Allright, give me a brush, you want to see some art...."
Namaste my friend.

LOVE, William (AKA BW!!!!!!!!)--PEACE!!!!!!!!

Not a day goes by that Brendan and I don't think of you. You were a great friend to both of us. We miss you so much. Love, Kara

Blake,
Funny how you continue to touch lives with your timeless spirit. Almost 10 years have past and I was lucky to be introduced to you on this beautiful winter day in NYC in Riverside Park. I saw a guy sitting on a bench yesterday and I just had a sense of what he was feeling in his soul. I wasn't sure what it was but the feeling stayed with me all day and night. So guess what, today I went back to that bench and sat for awhile. Looking closer at the bench I noticed a weathered...
