Mattie Newell Obituary
Mrs. Newell, 87, formerly of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 5, 2011 in Sarasota, FL. She was born in Mecklenburg County, NC to Thomas and Lola Cochran. She was a born again Baptist and instilled her values upon those around her. She was nurturing, jovial and practiced strong family values.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Joe Harris of Sarasota, FL; her two sisters, Jessie Mae Smith and Alice Edwards; sister-in-law Barbara Cochran, daughter-in-law Donna Smith, two grandsons Trent and Josh Newell, five great-grandchildren, Trenton, Emma, Daniel, Kendall and Cooper Newell. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Odell Newell and son Jimmie Lee Newell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The celebration of her life will take place immediately following the visitation at 11:00 AM in the Wilson Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park.
