I also had the good fortune of working with Mattie at Social Security in 1970s. Vivacious, funny, positive, sweet, bright, caring - these are just a few of the adjectives that come to mind with I think of dear Mattie. She was an exceptional person. She really showed us how everyone could work, live and laugh together no matter what the color of our skin was.
