Not sure what to say?

Getting to know Maureen was a gift to me. For years we were in several incarnations of SGM discussion groups often with Maureen leading. Years back a few of us went to Star Island. Well, she brought one of her own paintings for the Silent Auction, always helping. Museums were her favorite pass time of course, The Museum of Fine Arts and the Peabody-Essex. There was never a walk through. Stopping at each art work garnered a discussion, the color, shading, content, comparisons etc. with...

What a warm person! She had such an even-keeled way about her. You knew that she was a quick study, but she exhibited this gift in a humble way. My mother and she exemplified what it meant to be WAVEs. They were tough, yet kind. I never had a chance to discuss current day politics and civil unrest with her. I am sure that she had sane comments to keep people on track with facts. Rest in peace, Mrs. Oates.

Nana Oates was always such a kind, steady, and thoughtful person to be around. She was like a grandmother to my sister Kate and I. For years we would drive down to visit my Aunt Kati and Nana Oates, and eat meals and spend time together. I remember what a beautiful artist she was, and how she'd be completely contented to sit and draw the most intricate trees, leaves, birds and other wildlife. She was unfailingly kind and considerate to others. I'm sure she knows how loved and cherished she...

Sorry for your loss. Condolences
Mr. Huff

Nana Oates was always a gentle and steadfast presence that I will miss being around. Although I am not family, as Kati’s goddaughter, I was lucky to have Nana Oates as a surrogate grandparent throughout my life. She was there on the day my mom passed away, and though I was only 8 years old at the time I can remember the warmth and kindness I felt from her during such a painful moment. She is a part of many memories I have of coming to MA to either visit Kati, or my grandmother. I got to...

Your mom was a treasure. I think of the countless hours she, Jan, and Julia sat around our dining room table playing scrabble, telling stories, "having a tasty", and solving the world's problems. Your mom and Julie came to the house just hours before Jan passed away last year and I know it meant the world to Jan that her beloved friends were there. Maureen had a heart of gold, a quick wry wit, and will be deeply missed. Sending our love and friendship to you all. Linda & Gino
