New London - Maurene "Moe" (Maynard) McCredie, 52, of 60 Cove View Road, New London, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
Moe was born on June 27, 1958, in New London, the daughter of the late John E. "Jack" and Lila (Rizk) Maynard.
She was married to Robert McCredie on April 27, 2002, in New London.
A 1976 graduate of New London High School, Moe began working in the business office of The Day while in high school and spent more than ten years there. She then went on to work for many years at most of the upscale restaurants in New London.
Very active in fundraising, Moe was well known for her efforts and volunteerism on behalf of many charities in eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island. She had an enormous zest for life, the sun, and beach vacations, especially her annual trek to the beaches of North Carolina.
Besides her husband, Bob, she is survived by her sister, Elaine Maynard-Adams of New London; her step-children and their spouses, Jonathan and Stephanie McCredie of Marshfield, Mass., Meredith and Robert Tukey of East Lyme; her aunts, Marie Forgione of Southington and Louisa Shakkkour of New London; a niece, Jennifer Adams of Boston; and her four beloved grandchildren, Tyler and Isabella McCredie of Marshfield and Jacob and Connor Tukey of East Lyme.
Her family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Port and Starboard at Ocean Beach Park in New London. A celebration of her life will immediately follow. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be directed to the Woviotis Schloarship Fund, c/o Atty George Kanabis, 320 State St., New London CT 06320, which benefits high school senior student athletes at New London, Waterford, and East Lyme high schools.

Dear Bob, there are no words that we can say to you that will help make your loss any easier. Sometimes the hurt is to big for words.
PJ and I will focus on our last time out with you and Moe. As always it was a fun time with lots of laughs.
Moe will be missed by many. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
