I just found out that Maury passed away. I worked with Maury at the Times for 30 years or so. He was what we called page 1 operator and I was his apprentice. He taught me so much. He was one of the nicest person I have ever known.

We are fortunate to be neighbors with Vera and Maury ... yes he was a man of few words ... but always pleasant and friendly. One day shortly after we moved into our house and after a big remodel I was taking a walk in the neighborhood. I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Baumgartner's passing, and send my condolences to all the family, especially Steve. He was certainly a fixture in youth sports on Queen Anne, and is well-remembered by so many. Definitely a great man who impacted so many of us from back in the day on the Hill.
