Maurice passed away Jan. 6, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Groton.

Maurice J. Huber was born on Jan. 17, 1923, in Conde to Leo and Rose (King) Huber. He attended country school, Ash Consolidated, and graduated from Conde High School in 1941. Following graduation, Maurice farmed on the family farm in Clark County.

He was united in marriage with Margery Bonn of Groton. Together they raised three children. The couple moved to Conde in 1978, while Maurice continued to help on the farm and also drive school bus for many years.

Maurice was a great fan of traditional country music, especially anything by Hank Williams Sr. He loved old cars and tractors, coffee with friends and family and his grandchildren. His humility, humor and gentle manner will be greatly missed.

Celebrating his life through memories are his wife, Margery; children: Linda (Bart) Jett of Gardendale, Ala., Steve Huber and special friend, Donette Dunlavy, of Conde, Mary Ann (Jerry) Taylor of Conde; 10 grandchildren, Beth Craig, Todd (Allison) Craig, Matthew (Heather) Reeves, Megan Reeves, Collin (Terri) Huber, Jay (Shannon) Huber, Logan Huber and fiancŽe, Lindsey Meester, Ross Taylor, Brenna Taylor and Molly Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner Huber and Grady Huber. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Holmquist, of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother, Frederick “Fritz” Huber.

Casketbearers will be Ross Taylor, Logan Huber, Jay Huber, Collin Huber, Jerry Bonn and Ron Bonn.

Not sure what to say?

A wise man once said that the famous are seldom great, and the great are seldom famous. Grandpa was a great man. The older I get the more I appreciate what a special person he was. He was always loving and kind, patient and generous; and I will miss him greatly. Spending my summers with him working on the farm made me a better man. Watching him care for his children and grandchildren, always with his tremendous sense of gratitude, has made me a better father.
