My first memory of Jim is of a dashing young Army lieutenant, a dazzling figure to a three-year-old. Later he would continue to dazzle. I remember he had a trick of ``walking'' matchbooks up a kite string, wind magic performed to the crash of waves at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, where our families would gather.
