Mauro Donatelli, 87, purple heart veteran of WW II.
Mountainside resident for 57 years, Mauro passed away at Overlook Hospital August 28, 2012. Funeral service will be held Saturday September 1 at 9 AM from funeral home. Mass 10 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Mountainside. Visitation 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM Friday.
Mauro grew-up with 5 brothers and one sister in Scotch Plains, attending school in Scotch Plains. He volunteered for the Marines and served on the USS Hornet in WW II. Mauro is a member of the American Legion Post#209 of Scotch Plains.
At home he apprenticed with his father, Thomas, as a mason. He stayed in the trade with is own business, Mountainside Masonary.
As well as operating his own mason business Mauro was a member of the BMPIU Local# 4 of Cedar Grove.
Mauro was predeceased by his 4 late brothers Joseph, Thomas, Henry, Franklin and his late sister Josephine.
Surviving Mauro is his wife of 64 years Dolores Zollo Donatelli; his daughter Jeanne Yaworski and her husband Stephen; his daughter Gloria Lister; his son Thomas M.; his brother Robert;
4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
