Max Raymond Dietz, Jr. 66, of Battle Creek, died June 2, 2011 at home. He was born October 21, 1944, the son of Max and Betty (Kennedy) Dietz in Lansing, Michigan. Max graduated from Castro Valley (California) High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Tech. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked in the food processing department at Kellogg's for 24 years, retiring in 2000. Max married Martha Williams on June 10, 1978. She survives. Also surviving are stepdaughters, Valerie Keller of Battle Creek, Stephanie Keller of Kansas City, Missouri and Mickey (Robert) Gray of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Jaimee (Josh) Kovar of Olathe, Kansas, Robbie Gray, Ryan Gray, Brendan Gray and Madison Gray, all of Battle Creek; great grandchildren, Jonas and Kimber Kovar of Olathe, Kansas; brother, William (Rhonda) Dietz of Lakeview, Michigan; sisters, Susan (Kristian) Phillippy of Fremont, Michigan and Jane (Wayne) Frens of Portland, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Max was a member of the Kellogg Retiree Club, American Legion Post #54 and a former member of Church of the Resurrection. He loved to play golf, bowling, boating, downhill skiing, hunting and going to deer camp in the U.P. There are no services scheduled. Memorial donations may go to a charity of one's choice.
