MANCELONA — Max W. Rushton, 79, of Mancelona, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Munson Hospice House.
Max was born March 18, 1931, in Leelanau County, the son of William and Lucinda (DeLine) Rushton.
Max was a Mancelona resident since 1972. He owned and operated a barber shop before retiring in 1999.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the early 1950s and was a long-time member of the Mancelona American Legion.
He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
On Jan. 13, 1954, in Traverse City, he married Wanda Stein, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Ron (Melissa) Rushton of Engadine; two grandchildren, Collin and Chance; three sisters, Maxine Boone of Suttons Bay, Bernadine Burkholder of Williamsburg and Billie Brown of Mancelona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Antrim Church of Christ. Yousef "Yogi" Jabara will officiate.
