Not sure what to say?

A Falstaffian personality, Max was. We worked on many IBM cases over the years, and so we had our fair share of good food, wine and laughter together. I saw him very seldom since we retired, but I thought of him often with pleasure, and I have often wondered how I would have handled the kinds of challenges life dealt him. I wish I could have been at his funeral. I send my deepest sympathy to his family.

James and Sarah,
Your father told me tales of exploring every nook and cranny of the Cathedral and his love of the high places. What a delight the bells will peal "for him" this weekend. He was always a grand man.

I was shocked to learn of Max's death ten minutes ago (May 23). Reuben Clark, another partner in the early days of the law firm, always quoted the recommendation give for Max by Yale Law School's dean as Max was applying for a job at Wilmer and Broun: " That Max Truitt, a lusty man of the world." Max lived a full life. He faced many challenges with dignity. I am so glad to learn he died in peace.

Max was a neighbor and a great friend at Wilmer. We schmoozed a lot about politics (national locAL AND very local, i.e. inside the firm). And we collaborated on one interesting case in which we kicked hell ouit of another major law firm but which a confidentiality agreement forbids me to name.Damn! Our paths didn't cross in this century but my delight in his presence helps defines my years at Wilmer.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Max at WilmerHale. He was truly one of a kind.

Max was a true character. A one of a kind. I was privileged to work with him a few times as an associate in his firm in the 1980s and then to be one of his law partners until his retirement in '01. Always had a smile, always a witty remark, always a clever thought. They don't make them like Max Truitt any more.

I always enjoyed Max's visit to the Lower School Library to "check in" and be supportive, of me as well as of course James. And he and james were loyal members of our Parent/Son Book Club. I only know James but what a great legacy he is. And I send him much love.

Loved ones await in the wild blue yonder. Go in a brilliant stream of light. Sending love to Dawson and Robin.

Dear Family, I was so hoping to see Max one more time. I have so many questions for him. What a life he led. What an arc of history he witnessed. What a character! My heart is with you. -- Karen Marrero Chaffraix, Senegal.
