Maxine Corbin, the second of five daughters born to the late Rodger and Elvira Wilson, was born in Beaumont, Texas, on February 21, 1914.

She attended Charlton Pollard High School, where she graduated in 1933. After graduation, she moved to Oakland, California, to live with her sister, Eartha Warren.

In Oakland, she met Benjamin Corbin, who she joined in Holy Matrimony on February 14, 1942. To this union, God blessed them with 56 wonderful years.

Maxine was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and an usher under Reverend Clark. After his passing, she was under the leadership of Reverend W.A. Holly. After his passing, she was under the leadership of Reverend Charles Thomas. She then became an inactive usher due to her husband's illness. Then, she also became ill.

Maxine passed away from this life on August 25, 2000, and was preceded in death by her father, mother, and one sister.

She leaves to mourn her son, Donald Corbin and daughter-in-law, Arrena Corbin; three sisters, Eartha Warren of Oakland, John Ella Reese of Oakland, and Ola Singleton and brother-in-law, Clarence Singleton of Buffalo, New York; three grandchildren, Adam, Jamel, and Ayana Corbin; four great-grandchildren, Ashla, Jah'love, Jahi-Ben-Zuri, and Don Christian Corbin, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
