Not sure what to say?

This was sad news for Max's many friends at UMBC.

I worked closely with Max for many years. I couldn't have asked for a better colleague in the day-to-day work of delivering advising orientation and registration services.

You could count on Max to tell you what she thought, to do what she said she was going to do, to help you out of a jam, and to let you know when she needed help.

She was tenaciously an individual--fearless and all about substance rather than...

A couple of weeks ago I was thinking of Maxine and wondering how she was doing. The news of her passing was the last thing I could have imagined.
Maxine was a pillar at UMBC. Her unstinted contributions to the development of the institution endure. The culture of civilized work place relations was practised by her and quietly spread to others. Her mastery of written rules and her humane execution of them, gave UMBC students a quality of life that enhanced their learning and growth. Few...

I had the pleasure of sharing an office at UMBC with Max for a couple of years in the early 90s. We had many talks about work, life, and our families. I remember how dearly Max loved her family and her delight at becoming a grandmother. I know this must be a very difficult time, and I will keep you, and Max, in my prayers.

Sincerely,

Kathy Raab

Please accept my condolences. I knew Max only for a short while as I started working at UMBC in 1989. In talking to those of us who have been around here awhile we all agreed that we enjoyed her tremendously. She made us smile.

My family sends its deepest wishes and prayers to the Cote family.

Dear Cote Family,

I was saddened by the news of Max's passing. She was a great person and very capable colleague. She made a tremendous difference in the lives of UMBC students, staff and faculty.
We will miss her. Fortunately, the great foundation that she helped to build in advising and caring for students is a living testament to her dedication and efforts. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you!
