Excerpts from an email dated January 12, 2006 from one of Maxine's grandnieces Wendy Nash, now Wendy Nash Moyal, M.D.:

"Dear Aunt Maxine, ... We have been thinking of you here, and I want you to know that although we haven't seen each other much, I have a vibrant image of you in my mind that I will keep forever. Although I am more of a New Yorker every day, I still aspire to have the graces of a Southern Bell :)

As we prepare for Aunt Maxine's Memorial service, I'm reminded of many things she brought into our lives as children. She will always be remembered for the wonderful gifts she gave. In her passing, I'm reliving those memories as we have been given various belongings from her home that will always be treasures from her. I so wish I had the opportunity to thank her, one more time. As children we always admired her for the excitement that seemed to accompany her arrival at family gatherings....
