Our dear beloved faithful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Maxine "Machie" Medina Duran, age 91, of Las Cruces passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family and is now rejoicing with her Lord in Heaven. "Machie", as she was fondly known to family and friends, was born November 30, 1925 in Salem, NM to Rumaldo O. and Juliet Lopez Medina. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church.
Machie was a very loving and caring person with all who knew her. The joys of her life included: her family, dancing, camping with family, caring for her flowers, cooking for family gatherings and praying her daily rosary.
Those left to mourn her passing include her two sons, Raymond Duran (Linda) and Robert Duran (Lillian); three daughters, Jeanne De La O (Angel) Lorraine Torres (Hector) and Patsy Duran all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include twelve grandchildren and thirty-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Machie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymundo V. Duran on November 5, 2007, three sisters, Helen Barela, Placida Provencio and Jessie Garcia, and a son-in-law, Albert G. De La O.
Visitation for Mrs. Duran will begin at 10 AM Monday, October 9, 2017 at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Doña Ana. The Prayer Vigil is scheduled at 10:30 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately thereafter with the Reverend Valentine Jankowski officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be grandsons Randy De La O, Todd Telles, Raymond Duran, Robert Duran, Patrick Cardenas and Hector Torres. Honorary bearers will be Brian De La O, Kevin Duran, Daniel Duran, Jamie Torres, Lorie Hoag, and Desiree Duran.
A very special thank you to all the staff at Mesilla Valley Hospice for the wonderful, loving care that was given to our mother.
