I had the great privilege of growing up a next door neighbor to Ben, Susan, Ed, Kathleen and John Truax, which is how I met Maxine Shuler and her wonderful family. I loved everything about Maxine, her grace, kindness, welcoming smile, her energetic zeal for living, and her splendid contributions to the world in countless ways over all these decades. I will always treasure my childhood memories of those days, this amazing family and Maxine's truly beautiful legacy.

To The Shuler Family All, I will always think of Maxine as a wonderful mom who saw the humor in raising her two girls. Gary was grown and out of the house by the time I was spending time with Barb. We had a number of shenanigans going on but nothing could rattle Maxine or make her angry. She was a wonderful role model for us as women and as humans. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.

I'm very sorry for your loss Shuler family. Some of my favorite childhood memories of being a part of the Multnomah Presbyterian church involve Don & Maxine. She was so very kind and generous with a awesome sense of humor. Tom Geiger

Dearest Shuler Family: Thinking of you as you all memorialize Maxine and her life well lived of kindness, generosity and meaning. God Bless your loving hearts. Chuck and Debbie Smith

I have many fond and lovely memories of Maxine and her family, as Barbara and I were very close friends in elementary school. Maxine was our Girl Scout leader, which made Girl Scouts all the more fun. She grew an amazing garden, which I loved to walk through. She had a sense of beauty with nature , people, and all living things. She was a blessing in my life and a role model forever. My blessings to the family.

As a teenage friend of Barbs, Maxine was always welcoming and had a smile for me. She and Don were the kindest parents I ever met. What a blessing to have known her.

I remember Maxine growing up each time my family went down to visit my mom's sister who lived next door and as I gotten older (as a teenager). I was friend's with Barbara,
