Lee, Jo and family. I had PE with your Mom and have so many wonderful and crazy memories of her from class. She really made a difference for women's sports and always cared about each and every student. Her leadership will be missed! Blessings to you all in the days ahead.

Lee, Jo, and family, Your mom hired me along with Rich Felicetti and she remained my mentor for life. As an advocate for girls athletics, she paved the way for many of us to enjoy sports interscholastically just like the boys. I became a PE teacher because of her influence. She was a great friend and colleague. My deepest sympathy to all of you. I'll be in touch. Mary Pat Hirshberg, Elgin High School P.E.

Our prayers are with you and your families. With some teachers, I can't remember their names. Mrs. Turek, I could never forget! She was deeply committed to all her students and cared enough about us to never give up on our potential. I can only smile thinking of her and my heart is filled with appreciation for all she did! Bravo for Mrs. Turek!

Lee, Jo, and the Turek family:
I was sorry to hear of your mom passing away. Her legacy is her family, friends, and the many, many students and fellow teachers she impacted. It has been a privelege to have known you in our youth also, Lee. My prayer is that you feel comforted as you mourn for her.

Mrs. Turek was not only our PE teacher but also our beloved Pom Pon Coach. She was such a wonderfully strong woman and even though she was tough on the outside, she was a cuddle bear on the inside.
Peace be with the family and may Maxine rest in peace.

Dear Lee & Jo
I was sorry to read about your mom's passing. She truly was a fine teacher and human being. I wish I had known back in the day that she had been in the Navy, I probably would made different life-choices if I had her guidance.
I'm sure you have many wonderful memories to sustain you.
Shalom.
