I have a profound memory of Prof Reade. It was fall of 1968. Prof Reade welcomed me with open arms as graduate student in Math Dept. 30 years later in the late 1990's when I revisited the campus, I happened to see him at East Engineering Building. I was astonished when he called me Ray down the hallway. What a brilliant memory he has to remember thousands of students he recruited! I miss him, my dear Professor Reade. Raymond Hsiao Yu Chu

Inspires us every day

He worked tirelessly, between 1983 and 1988 to get me out of communist Rumania
so I could pursue a Ph D at the University of Michigan. And when I finally made it to the US, he told me to not feel obliged to do my Ph D there, as there may be better places for what I had in mind.

Forever grateful.

The Greatest

Professor Reade! What great memories I have of him when I worked in the Math Department at the University of Michigan during the early 80's. He and Marjorie were the brightest, warmest people that you could ever meet. Even though it has been over 30 years since I have seen him, I remember it like it was yesterday. What a great man who will be missed. Rest in peace..............
