Dearest Maya, I was just thinking of you every day I pass our favorite creek and remember all the days we spent there looking for kingfishers and rare ducks. I recall all the summer days we spent at the beach looking for different birds to photograph. You brought so much joy to the world and will continue to do so with all you´ve contributed. - Jasmine

My sincere condolences to Maya's family. Maya had a kind and generous nature and was a great friend to the nature community. She was one of the best photographers I've had the privilege to know. She freely offered her awe-inspiring photographs for use by Friends of Blue Heron Park and other nature groups. I´m greatly saddened to hear of the passing of my long-time friend Maya. She was smart as a whip, kind, generous and had a great sense of humor. I will always remember the amazing adventures in the city we had together. She will be greatly missed.
