Not sure what to say?

Maynard was the senior Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for most of my childhood and young adult years and he confirmed me in 1969. I will always remember his deep, sonorous voice and the one word he could never quite seem to get right - congregation - it always came out sounding like 'conergation.' My sympathies to the Iverson family. May it bring you comfort to know how much Maynard touched the lives of others.

Our sincere sympathies to Pastor Iverson's entire family. Maynard confirmed me in 1956 (I was a new bride, having married a Bethlehem boy). After having our children he always called me Mother Groth as I was chasing our four girls around Bethlehem. He was a wonderful pastor that everyone loved because he was so kind to his flock and his love of God was about him all the time.

Pastor Maynard was my youth pastor at Central Lutheran and my confirmation pastor. I was 12 at the time and now I am 76. I remember a wonderful man and would never forget his smile.

Maynard was such an important part of my life from the time he introduced me to his brother-in-law, Bud Oas in Great Falls, Mt. until he oficiated at Bud's funeral in Mpls. Mn. He is one of a kind, an unforgetable person and was loved by all who knew him.

My condolences to his entire family.

My sympathy to all of you. Pastor Iverson meant so much to me at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He truly was my "hero"...someone I admired so very, very much. Pastor Iverson baptized me, confirmed me, married me, and baptized my first son. What a blessing he was to so very many!

Pastor Iverson married my husband and I in 1971 in the Chapel at Bethlehem Lutheran. I got to know a few members of his family from the hair salon where I worked.
He was a gifted speaker, with the love of GOD in his heart

Uncle Maynard provided guidance to more people than we will likely know and certainly more than he would have admitted to. I’m one of them - he was one of the four most influential people of my formative years.

Because of his example, I know that compassion comes from strength of spirit; that true conviction of faith inspires the search for truth in oneself and in others; that humor is the perfect companion to wisdom.

To Kathy, Brad, Jim and Sally – Our family...

My family admired Pastor Iverson throughout many generations, as we attended Bethlehem Lutheran. He will truly be missed by many.

May your loving and cherished memories bring you comfort during this time of loss.

On behalf of Effie and George, Wendell, Elaine and Glenys Olson and families ~

To Eline and the family,
St. John's in Shakopee had the wonderful experience of having Maynard as an associate pastor after he retired full-time. His rich voice, his humor, and ready smile fit us like a glove. One Sunday, he shared with us a dream he'd had of waking up late and showing up for church in his pajamas. At his retirement (from St. John's) party, we remembered that dream and gave him a pair of flannel pajamas with a clerical collar - just in case it really came true. He...
