NEWMAN, Maynard F. - Of Clio, age 81, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Gary Beck officiating. Burial in Maple Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of one's choice. Visitation 5-8PM Thursday and 11AM-1PM and 4- 8PM Friday at the funeral home. Maynard was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan on April 30, 1922 and was the son of the late Manford and Eunice (Crowell) Newman. He married Ruth Stott on July 11, 1942 in Flint. Maynard served his country during World War II, serving in all 5 major Campaigns in Europe. He retired from the City of Flint Fire Department after 25 years of service. Surviving are wife Ruth; son, Maynard of Grand Blanc; daughters, Susan and husband Robert Payne of Flint, Kathleen and husband Anthony Smith of Lapeer; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Manford and wife Helen Newman of Gladwin; sisters, Marion Forcier of Traverse City, Dymple and husband Dean Wyatt of Clio; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael and 2 brothers.
