I recall a very fun visit with Mead during my tenure as cathedral carillonneur in Washington, DC. We both had corned beef and cabbage, but the time seemed more like may or june. Also drove him either downtown or to the airport and he was surprised when I asked him to lock the door. He visited to see and hear the Kibbey Carillon. His cousin (I think) Bessie Juliet Kibbey gave the bonds which financed the carillon and Mead was interested to learn that the bequest went also for the tower and...
