Meagan Leda Schwaner, beloved daughter, mother, and friend to all, passed from this life Saturday, February 4, 2023. She leaves behind a precious 3-year-old son, grieving parents, sisters and a very large extended family. Meagan was born on June 21, 1996 in Covington, Louisiana to surviving parents Julie Hammer Strawn and Randy Schwaner. Meagan is also survived by her son Louis Patrick Jann, Jr. and his father Patrick Jann, Sr., her loving siblings, Paige Donavan, Rachael Hammer, Kimberlynn Ellspermann, Ally Strawn, Amanda Watson, Jordan Jung, Jonathan Schwaner and Natalie Schwaner. She is also survived by her stepmother Tali Schwaner and stepfather Blaine Strawn.
Beautiful “Megs” was an amazing mother to her wonderful “Bubs” and dedicated her short time as a mother to making their life full of joy, happiness and wonderment. Her maternal instinct was something that came very natural for Meagan. As a child her siblings called her “Mommy Meagan” because she loved to nurture and comfort all of them…even her older sisters. She attended Slidell High School where she was a member of the dance team. In December of 2022 she graduated from Delgado Community College where she completed the Occupational Therapy Assistant program and was poised to start her career in that field in the spring of 2023. For the past six years she has been a part of the Pat Gallagher family of restaurants and is considered one of the best bar tenders they have ever had.
Meagan’s beautiful soul and positive personality transformed the energy in every room she entered. Driven by her insatiable love for life and a determination to accomplish greatness, any and every obstacle in her way did not stand a chance. She incapsulated the cliché “When there’s a will, there’s a way”. Nothing deterred Meagan from reaching her goals. By age 24 she achieved a lifelong dream by walking as a runway model in both New York Fashion week and Paris Fashion Week. And of course, she was the toast of the town. Meagan truly was loved by all who knew her. She had a way of making every person she spoke with feel as if they were the only person on Earth, her kind words or wise-beyond-her-years wisdom came from her heart and soul and would make the cloudiest days seem bright and sunny. On the other hand, make no mistake, Meagan didn’t tolerate foolishness or self-pity. Her no-nonsense, straight to the point pep talks would make the harshest of drill sergeant seem like a cupcake. But that was only because she cared. She cared deeply for everyone. Not just her family, but also her friends. Meagan was known by everyone. It was common to run across a complete stranger, only to find out they knew Meagan well and loved her too. Our community and our family are forever changed. Meagan will be deeply missed but never forgotten and forever in our hearts.
We will celebrate her life on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, 70460, from 9:00am until the Memorial Service begins at 1:00pm.
