Megan Leslie Currie, 62, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016, at home in Clemson, South Carolina after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Donald and Alice (Campbell) Currie. She is survived by her long-time partner, Joel Simpson of Clemson, and her daughter, Amber Currie Hamilton, husband Christopher, and grandsons, Jordan and Nathan, of Charleston. Also surviving are her sisters, Patricia Currie and Melinda Leitzel (Ben), and brother Jim Currie (Arleen). She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Barbara Wells. Megan was born May 16, 1954, in Tucson, Arizona into an Air Force family and lived across the US before moving to Charlotte, NC in 1972. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and later attended massage therapy school in Florida. Megan was a massage therapist for 30 years with the last 20 years spent in Clemson, SC. Megan believed it was her gift to help people with her hands and healing touch. She was an exceptional therapist not only helping those with their physical problems, but also helping many more by listening and being their friend. Megan was an avid tennis fan – both playing and watching. She played in several local leagues and those that knew her well, knew not to disturb her during a major tournament! She was also a Master Gardener. She had an amazing green thumb and loved taking trips to the various botanical gardens and nurseries. What most people will remember about Megan was her infectious laugh. You could not help but join in when she started to laugh. She had a passion for life, family, and friends. She was a beautiful, joyful spirit and her light within radiated to everyone she knew and met. You were lucky if you knew her and luckier yet to call her your friend. We are blessed to have known and loved Megan. Her passing will leave an emptiness in our hearts forever. Services will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at 1:00 pm at Unity Spiritual Center of Clemson/Anderson, 304 Lebanon Road, Pendleton, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wind River Cancer Wellness Retreat, 430 Larsen Lane, Tryon, NC 28782-6760 or online at www.windriverservices.org/donate

Not sure what to say?

s be special to me, my friend! I will miss you so very much!! Delynn S. James

May the memories of sweet Megan bring the family comfort and peace. Sending hugs and love.

I knew Megan from Master Gardeners of the Foothills. She ran day trips & worked so hard so that everyone would have a great time. One particular trip to Daniel Stowe Gardens in Charlotte, NC. Megan ran back & forth under a fountain that cascaded over the sidewalk. She laughed each time she got wet & made us all laugh, and some of us follow her lead. I will miss her as will all of the good friends she made in Master Gardeners.

Melinda,
Our hearts go out to you and your family. Megan will certainly be missed by both friends and family. We wish you peace and know that you are in our prayers.

I went to see Megan for a massage around eight years ago, and I was blessed to be lucky enough to receive so much more: a wonderful friend who changed my life for the better just for having known her. Every time I see a butterfly or a mermaid or a happy lady wearing a tiara or hear someone laughing with joy, I will think of Megan. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

A gentle soul goes before us.

We were blessed to have known Megan. She was always so fun to be around with her smile and laughter. We give our condolences for such a sad loss. Yet, we're thankful she is free of pain and with loved ones in heaven. Much love.

Melinda, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. May you find peace and comfort in the memories of her life.
