Not sure what to say?

So sad to here about Mel. What a great guy to us little kids (not so little anymore). He was the greatest pitcher to us when we lived on Madrona Street. So from playing fielder in the alley. Here's to you Mel

I just found out about Mel and I am very saddened. We were close friends for many years and shared our love of sports and any personal issues and feelings that we might have about this thing called life.We trusted each other.I had respect for Mel because he worked at trying to be a better and kinder human being and you know what he was being successful.Any friend of Mel is missing him now.....

Although he was a quiet person - Mel made an impact on my life like few other people have. There is now an emptiness - but always there will be fond memories of Mel, especially of him behind the counter in his deli at the LFS building - rain or shine - it has been special to know him. All my thoughts for his family.

My deepest sympathies to Mel's family for their loss. I knew him only through my daily walk with a mutual friend. Everytime we passed Mel he always had a friendly hello and a kind smile. It was nice to have known him even for such a short time.

Sorry to hear of Mel's passing. I knew Mel for over thirty years and always enjoyed talking sports or photography with Mel. I will miss him, but will rejoice in having known him.

My love and condolences to your family. What a shock. Thanks for playing ball with all of us both on and off the field. Thanks for all the fun and celebration we shared over the years. Your friend Bud

So sorry to hear of Mel's passing. It has been many years...but I remember a vibrant person...chipper and happy. Bless you and your family Mel. Rest in peace.

My memory of Mel was one of fondness. He was a quiet man but spoke with boldness of his love for God. I will miss Mel but his memory will live on. He gave of himself to our friendship but mostly gave to those who needed help and hope. I worked with Mel on the streets as well as with the jail. He alway gave to the inmates as well as those who didn't have hope who were alone on the streets. He had a tender heart for those hurting. He alway reflected love and christ minded attributes in...

My memory of Mel goes back over 50 years,,,as a young distant relative, I looked up to him as an older brother, when he played in a baseball game (Bellingham Bells or Red Raiders?) I attended at Battersby Field. I think he had been playing catcher, and later when he was doing some of his running in the outfield, I remember how special he made me feel when I got to run with him. Don't think I ever saw him again after that, but I have never forgotten. So sorry to hear of your loss.
