When I first met you in Clinton il I was overwhelmed with what a kind and gentle giant you were. Never did you act better than anyone else, or make anyone feel unwelcome. We had many great days sitting back talking basketball, and laughing the night away. You were and always will be one of my favorite friends ever and I miss you and will continue to miss you til I pass. May you rest in peace and I pray you are looking down on me and smiling, as I look up hoping you will be there to meet me...

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Melvin Turpin. One of the truly great basketball players at UK. He truly was a gentleman both on and off the court. So sorry to hear of this tragic loss of life. May Melvin find peace in the arms of God.

Mel, you were an awesome friend. Hangin out at your apt, driving the moving truck to your new house in Decatur, Il was just great.
