Thoughts of you are constant as I continue to matriculate through my journey of learning. Your light is still bright, your voice has not been silenced, and your passion is still felt. Rest well with the other ancestors, knowing you made a difference while you were on this side.

Njeri is not gone but borrowed. I am sad that she is not physically present, but happy that she is not suffering. She was a mentor, friend and colleague. Njeri's last email to me earlier this year was "uze mine" and "I am doing fine..." My condolensces to the family! Let's continue her legacy through research, scholarship and practice.

To dearest family and friends of Melanie Nijeri Jackson, great soul and mind. I have known Melanie for 43 years. We first met at the University of California, Berkeley. She grew up in the Potrero Hill section of San Francisco and I in the Hunter's Point Projects. I remember meeting her mother who had many of her brilliant qualities of soul and mind. Njeri was blessed with many gifts but always blessed others with many gifts. She is not dead, only graduated. She smiles upon us even now and...

I am sorry for the loss of your love one, Dr. Njeri Jackson. I had the pleasure of working with her at VCU. She was deeply involved with the Black Faculty Association and Diversity. She was surely an inspiration to me.

I call this Dr. J and Dr. J1day
It is my belief that life never dies. It is housed in a human shell which one day expires, but life itself never dies. When the shell that once housed life dies, life is released and lodges itself in the hearts of all those that life impacted while housed in its central human form.
I celebrate the life of one of the most phenomenal women I knew and THE MOST phenomenal educator I have come in contact with. The life of Melanie Njeri Jackson ("Dr. J" for those of us who had the...
