Proctor Funeral Home - Camden Obituary

Melba Jean Maher George, 76 years old, of Camden, AR was called to be with her savior on November 5, 2022.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth George; her parents, John Thomas and Cleo Vela Maher.


She is survived by her daughters, Robyn Binns (Rick) of Camden, AR and Kenya Calhoun (Jody) of Cabot, AR; three grandsons, Charles Sweet of North Little Rock, AR, Nicholas Calhoun of Cabot, AR, and Samuel Calhoun of Cabot, AR; two sisters, Linda McLemore (Leroy) of McNeil, AR and Faye Bethea of Bella Vista, AR; along with five nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her fur baby, Honee who was her faithful companion of eight years.


Melba was a retired Quality Inspector of General Dynamics for twenty-five years. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church and loved her church family. Melba enjoyed her family and friends and always had a giving heart and spirit. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by many.


A visitation will be held at Proctor Funeral Home on November 8, 2022 from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Her funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 10:00AM followed by a graveside service at Salem Cemetery in Bearden. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

I have always thought the world of Ms. Melba. She was such a sweet lady. I’m so sorry for your loss. She left a sweet impression on all she met.

I am so very sorry for your lost. No words can help at a time like this but please note that I worked with Melba for a lot of years and loved every one of them. She was always up-beat and fun to be around.
