Melinda Stewart Carlson

We are so sorry for your loss and ours as well. Melinda was our school nurse in Junction City for many years. We got to see compassion, competence and caring in action. She took care of us teachers as well. She taught all of us how to be healthy emotionally mentally and physically too. She was an inspiration and made a difference. Melinda did so much for the students at Oaklea MS; for families who couldn't afford health care, she found a way to secure medical services. For kids who were in dire need of braces, she found someone to do pro bono work. She was a tireless supporter of students throughout a district of four schools; and the only school nurse. I worked with Melinda for many years at Laurel Elementary. Caring, competent, and delightful a few of the many adjectives that come to mind when I think back on my interactions with our school nurse.
