Not sure what to say?

Written by Melissa about her Grandfather Schroeder when she was 12 years old.

This is a story of how my grandpa is special. When I was four years old my grandpa was dying of cancer. My whole family took a trip to Texas to see him. When we arrived, I saw how sick he really was. Although he was really sick, he still taught me something I will remember the rest of my life. He taught me how to wink my eyes--one at a time. I tried and tried to do it and when I showd him , that brought...

I knew Melissa for almost seven years and in that time I grew to know her warmth and compassion. She cared very much about her friends and family, especially Monica and Chad. And they, in turn, loved her unconditionally.

It is that love that I will remember, it is that compassion that I strive to duplicate in my own life.

I will miss her deeply.
Rest in peace Melissa.

In May 1989, when Melissa was 10 years old, she wrote this Diamonte Poem for an assignment at school.
ME
Pretty, Kind
Working, Playing, Singing
Books, Friends, Skates, Ball
Jumping, Dancing, Laughing
Nice, Cool

This was Melissa. She enjoyed life to the fullest. My heart aches as I miss her so much. May she be at peace and dance with the angels.
Love always,
Mom

Chad and family,
I am Sandy Novak, an evening nurse who worked with Melissa over the years. I respected her and very much appreciated her presence. She was a professional and excellent nurse. She was a gentle person who had a great smile.

We used to share stories about our pets, her dog and cat and my three cats. I used to refer to her as Zuzu's mom and she would always smile at that. Once around late July, I gave her some "organic pet treats" that my pets would not eat. She...

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

chad and family,
i am a night nurse at boone, and followed melissa many times during our years together passing patients off to each other working our 12 hour shifts. i just wanted to say to you chad and her family what a joy and honor it was working with melissa. she was a first class nurse. i think of her often, and remembered how my shift ended a month ago on that saturday. i am so saddened for your loss, and pray everyday to God to help you heal.
may God's prayers be with you...

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Melissa was a great friend to me in high school. She will be missed.

Our deepest sympathy. She was a good person.
